EU Laws require websites such as this to have a Cookies Policy. In addition, because I have a mailing list, I also need to have a Privacy Policy that outlines how I use the email addresses I collect.
Simple versions
Cookies
This site runs on WordPress, which sets some cookies to make it run properly. Google also tracks the number of hits and where they come from, but this does not record your personal details. That’s it.
Privacy
If you email me using the email form on the Contact page, your email address will be stored in my own email addressbook. I will only contact you in respect of the original query, and will never pass your email on to anyone else. I will delete your address if you ask me to.
If you sign up to my newsletter, your email will be stored by a service called MailerLite, who are fully compliant with EU regulations. I will never share my mailing list with anyone else, or use it for anything other than sending out newsletters. You can unsubscribe at any time.
I minimise the amount of your data stored by only collecting your email address, not your name. The only other information that might be collected would include things like whether you are interested in being a beta reader or receiving Advance Review Copies.

There will be no adverts on my site, other than for my own books, and these will not depend on cookies.

I will only use your Personal Data when the law allows me to. Most commonly, I use your Personal Data to:

I share Personal Data as necessary with third parties who provide services or functions on my behalf and who require the information to provide those specific services to me. At present this includes only MailerLite, the service that collects email addresses for my newsletter:
MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may collect and process your data using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my newsletter. MailerLite’s privacy policy is available at https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided at the end of each newsletter.
Retention periods for use of your Personal Data
I will use and store your Personal Data only for as long as necessary, bearing in mind the uses of your Personal Data as described in this privacy policy and otherwise as communicated to you. I review the Personal Data I hold at regular intervals and delete permanently or anonymise any Personal Data which is no longer necessary.
You can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time, and your details will be removed.
Children
This Website and my services are aimed at adults, and I do not knowingly collect any Personal Data relating to children aged under 15 years old. If you are under the age of 15, please do not provide me with any of your Personal Data, including your email address.
Access to and control over your Personal Data
You have legal rights under applicable law in relation to your Personal Data. You can ask the following questions, or take the following actions, at any time by contacting me via email jayne@jaynedavisromance.co.uk or via my postal address:
- see what Personal Data I hold about you (if any), including why I am holding it and who it could be disclosed to;

Change of purpose
I will only use your Personal Data for the purposes for which I collected it, unless I reasonably consider that I need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to have an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact me.
