About

I write historical romance, set in the late Georgian/Regency era, published as both ebooks and paperbacks.

I was hooked on Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer as a teenager, and longed to write similar novels myself. Real life intervened, and I had several careers, including as a non-fiction author under another name. That wasn’t quite the writing career I had in mind…

So here I am, finally publishing fiction. I hope you enjoy my stories. You can read a sample of my writing in the Short Story section.

Where to get my books

My ebooks are on sale via Kobo, Amazon, and other major retailers, and can be read on subscription via Kobo Plus (similar to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited). Print versions of the books are available via Amazon as well as major online bookshops such as Barnes & Noble and Waterstones. You can also ask your local library to buy a paperback or ebook for you to borrow.

Why I’m no longer in Kindle Unlimited

Kindle Unlimited is great for new authors, as readers with a subscription are more likely to try a book by an unknown author than people who have to buy the ebook. Being in KU helped me get my books out into the world and gain readers. However Amazon require exclusivity for ebooks in the Kindle Unlimited program; this means the ebooks cannot be sold by any other store or bought by libraries. This is putting all the author’s eggs in one basket, and I have decided I am no longer happy with this. If you want to find out more about this, I’m doing a set of blog posts to document my success (or otherwise!) with publishing beyond Amazon.

My books are in a similar program to KU called Kobo Plus, for a slightly cheaper price. Kobo are a Canada-based company.
